ONE YEAR LATER: REBUILDING OUR CITY TOGETHER
As a proud Los Angeles brand, our hearts broke as devastating wildfires swept across our city last January.
Education is central to Frank & Eileen's mission and our Giving Pledge. To help restore the LA schools our children know and love, we pledged $1 million to support seven non-denominational elementary and middle schools that suffered near-total loss in the Palisades and Altadena neighborhoods.
Over the past year, we’ve fulfilled that pledge. On the one-year anniversary we’re reflecting on the impact of that commitment. Connecting directly with the brave educators working tirelessly to restore immediate needs, materials, and learning spaces for their students was a deeply rewarding experience, and we’re honored to have been a part of their rebuilding journey.
The stories and resilient spirit of these seven extraordinary schools remind us that we're so much stronger, together.

Aveson Global Leadership Academy
Aveson's beloved Rite of Passage Field Studies have shaped students for nearly two decades. With our support, students are stepping into a full year of transformative experiences without the financial pressure so many families face post-disaster. This year's journeys include Wolf Camp in the San Bernardino Mountains, AstroCamp in Idyllwild, a Pacific Northwest exploration of Indigenous histories and ecological systems, and a capstone Galápagos Expedition. As Site Director Aaron Gerwer shared, "These Rite of Passage trips connect learning in the classroom to the real world. As a school committed to developing global leaders, the ability to learn from and experience new cultures is crucial to our students' development."

Now sharing a temporary campus with another school, Pasadena Rosebud has moved from recovery to renewal. Our support provided a new 15-passenger van to revive sports programs and enable field trips, additional field trip funding for meaningful "Exposure and Experiences," and staff retention support to provide students with consistency and care during this rebuilding period.

As Seven Arrows navigates life on a temporary campus, our support has created a student-centered space fostering creativity, wellness, and belonging. A new STEAM Innovation Hub brings hands-on coding, robotics, and design technologies. Expanded athletics offerings include a custom Kirkwood Court, scoreboard, handball wall, and Gaga pit. Additionally, tuition assistance ensures families facing crises can remain part of the community.

Our support has helped restore play, wellness, and joy with new Gaga pits, basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts, a revitalized kindergarten playground with trikes, bikes, water tables, and a mud kitchen, plus newly planted trees and greenery. These additions provide immediate opportunities for active, joyful learning as recovery continues.
