FRANK & EILEEN: Estelle Colored Glass is named after your grandmother. How did her aesthetic inspire the vision for your brand?

STEPHANIE: My grandmother instilled in me the importance of curating beautiful and unique pieces that make entertaining exciting and memorable for guests. I accompanied Estelle on shopping trips to her favorite antique stores from when I was a small child through my college years and developed her same love for treasure hunting. The result of her weekly shopping trips was her impressive collection of tableware, which included vibrant colored glass pieces that were beautifully displayed in two china cabinets in her home. Her best plates, glasses, and serving dishes came out when she hosted Sunday dinners—where the guest of honor was our family preacher, joined by his wife and other special guests dressed in their finest Sunday attire. She always had a huge, delicious meal prepared.

F&E: Does your work influence your outfitting choices?

STEPHANIE: Yes! The key for me is being comfortable, but still looking polished in every setting. That is why I love my F&E button-ups—and the Billion Dollar Pant and Mary shirtdress.

FRANK & EILEEN: You’re passionate about craft and top-tier quality—you even collaborated with a 100-year-old glass producer in Europe! What advice do you have for fellow women looking to embark on their own entrepreneurial journeys?

STEPHANIE: Find a passion and get started on the entrepreneurial journey, because done is better than perfect. It helps to talk with successful entrepreneurs, observing their strategy and of course asking them about their failures as well. Start small and let the business venture earn its investments rather than tie up additional resources in a business that is failing. If one of your first ventures fails, that will be the best lesson learned—I certainly failed at several ideas before creating Estelle.
