FRANK & EILEEN: You’ve shared in the past that you’re inspired by old European architecture, the California coast, and colors found in nature. What’s your method for combining and bringing to life these different styles and sources of inspiration?

AMBER: It’s really dependent on the space - are you working with original architecture? What design elements are you adding? How much space do I have to work with? Finding balance is important to create that natural warmth. I’m very inspired by travel and I love bringing unique elements, materials, and details that I discover to create a lived-in, approachable, but elevated space.

F&E: Your second book, Call it Home: The Details that Matter, came out last fall. What are some of your favorite areas of your own home, and the small details that bring meaning to you?

AMBER: I wouldn’t say I have a favorite, but I would say the most utilized spaces are our kitchen and family room, where we can all spend time together. The small details are really those that make it personal. I like incorporating vintage with pieces that have a history, as well as including personal touches like family photos, art, and heirlooms.

F&E:
You’re launching a new furniture collaboration this month with Four Hands. What are you most excited about for this collection?

AMBER: Honestly, pretty much everything! This is the first time I’ve done a furniture collaboration and Four Hands are amazing partners. The Amber Lewis x Four Hands craftsmanship, quality and breadth of this collection will make a great addition to so many spaces.

F&E: What do you most love about the work you do, and what led you to this path?

AMBER: I love that no two days are the same. Yes, it’s crazy busy, but I get to do something I’m passionate about, that I’m fortunate to have turned into a career.

F&E: How does your professional work influence your style?

AMBER: My days can have client meetings, site visits, events, you name it–so I need pieces that are versatile. I try to invest in classic styles and silhouettes but add my own personal touches.

F&E: What are some of the pieces in your closet that you reach for again and again?

AMBER: Can’t go wrong with denim paired with a classic sweater. So many ways to style and layer them. Also you’ll often find me in my Converse - my go-to for every day.
