OUR CHAT WITH JESSICA
From marathon travel days to the pressure of the world's biggest equestrian arenas, Jessica Springsteen has built a wardrobe that works hard. We sat down for a cuppa with the Olympic medalist to chat through her go-to travel outfitting formula, the F&E button-up she's worn for over a decade, and why she prefers timeless over trendy.
JESSICA: Comfort definitely comes first when traveling, but I do also like to feel put together because a lot of the time I'm going somewhere directly after landing. My go-to is a loose-fitted pair of jeans with an easy-to-slip-on-and-off shoe, a relaxed top, and an oversized, cozy sweater or cardigan.
F&E: We intentionally design pieces that are perfectly imperfect and made to live in. What are your favorite or most-worn Frank & Eileen silhouettes and why?
JESSICA: A white button-up was the first Frank & Eileen piece that I owned and it’s still one of my favorites. Now I have it in a few colors and love the new plaid! It's the best piece to pack with me wherever I'm going because it's so versatile. I'll wear it as an everyday piece, dressed up for dinner tied over a skirt or nice pant, or over a bathing suit to the beach. It's also my favorite button-up to ride in because the fit is relaxed enough that you can move easily and comfortably. I can't say enough good things about it!

JESSICA: I love incorporating everyday clothes into my riding wardrobe, and Frank & Eileen pieces are perfect for that. I first got the white button-up when I was younger because I was looking for a billowy, relaxed-fitting top I could ride in, and I didn't feel like it existed at the time. For me while riding, it's important that my arms are covered from the sun, that I can move my body freely, and of course, comfortable fabric.

I love an item that can take me through every part of the day—a sweater I can ride in and also wear to dinner, or a great pair of jeans that are polished enough to dress up but also comfortable enough for long days of travel. As I've gotten older, I've had fun leaning into the equestrian aesthetic outside of the stables—whether it's a great blazer, a flannel or denim button-up, or a favorite pair of cowboy boots—I love mixing those staples into my wardrobe!

F&E: We're big on generationless style. You and your lovely mom are known to wear Frank & Eileen. Is there a particular piece you both love? Why do you feel drawn to our forever classic, woman-owned, woman-led brand?
JESSICA: I love that Frank & Eileen has continued to focus on timeless over trendy pieces, and that's what has always drawn me to the brand, as well as the fact that it's woman-owned and woman-led and committed to educating future women entrepreneurs. My mom and I both love the Wicklow pant! That's been one of our favorites over the years, and it has a lot of colors to choose from. It's such a versatile pant that you can take from day to night. Of course, our other favorite is the classic white cotton Eileen button-up! It's the perfect staple in any wardrobe, and not easy to find one that's just right—tailored yet relaxed. Ten years later, it's still an item I continue to reach for, and it looks brand new.
